Most personal trainers in Toronto coach how much you can lift. JAMFITNESS coaches how well you move — joint by joint — so strength lasts and pain doesn’t. Start with a Movement Assessment or a free session.
A Different Kind of Personal Trainer
Here’s the thing most personal trainers in Toronto get wrong: they focus on how much you can lift instead of how well you move. That’s backwards.
Better movement equals less pain, more sustainable strength, and a body that actually works the way it’s supposed to. You’re not training to become a powerlifter—unless that’s your goal. You’re training to feel great, stay active, and live without pain. That’s what movement coaching delivers.
JAMFITNESS is run by Antonio Montes, a Toronto personal trainer and movement coach who has been coaching since the early 2000s. Every client starts with a full Movement Assessment—a joint-by-joint screen of how your body actually moves—before a single program is written. Sessions run out of boutique studios in East Toronto, in your condo gym where logistics allow, or online.
“Helping people stay agile like a monkey. We chase capacity—not fatigue.”
The result is a training program that gives you the results you want and works towards preventing the injuries and imbalances that send most people back to square one. Move well. Feel great. #MVMTGAINS
Why It Works
When Antonio started coaching in the early 2000s, personal training meant counting reps and adding weight to the bar. Clients would get stronger for a few months—then get injured and disappear. The pattern was too consistent to ignore.
The problem is that a barbell doesn’t fix the reason your hip won’t rotate or your ankle won’t bend. It just adds load on top of a compensation. Eventually something gives—usually the knee, shoulder or lower back—and the progress you built evaporates.
A movement-first personal trainer works in the other order. We screen the whole chain, restore the joints that aren’t doing their job, then build strength on a foundation that can actually hold it. You still get stronger. You still see the changes in the mirror. The difference is that the results stay, because they came from getting better at moving rather than from grinding through a plan your body was fighting.
That’s the whole thesis: sustainable strength is a movement problem before it’s a willpower problem. Solve the movement, and consistency gets a lot easier.
In and Out of the Gym
Don’t let discomfort stop you from moving. Make pain-free movement a priority and start enjoying the ability to move confidently during your workouts.
Having the ability to execute lifts at end ranges of motion is essential for long-term results. Don’t let tight muscles and imbalances limit your fitness gains.
Not all squats are created equally and the same can be said for every fundamental movement pattern. Your ability to execute each lift is specific to your anatomy and mechanics. Stop relying on movement cues that you may have seen someone else do and start understanding how to move based on your specific needs.
The Method
Agility is not one skill. It emerges when every joint in the chain does its job—so we screen and train them in order, from the ground up. Unlocking feet → ankles → knees → hips → spine → shoulders → elbows → wrists → fingers.
Your base of support. If the foot can’t sense the ground and spread load, everything above it compensates.
Mobility here decides whether your squat, lunge and stride are clean—or whether your knees and back pay for it.
Built to be stable, not mobile. We protect the knee by restoring the joints on either side of it.
The engine. Hinge, rotate and extend well and you unlock real strength without borrowing from your spine.
Segmental control and a strong, stable trunk—so you can brace under load and move freely under everything else.
The most mobile joint in the body needs the most coordination. We build overhead capacity that your rotator cuff can back up.
Often the first to complain in a pressing or pulling program. Usually a symptom of the shoulder or wrist, not the cause.
Load tolerance for pushing, carrying and hanging. Trained deliberately, they stop being the reason you skip a lift.
Grip is a window into your whole nervous system. We train the hands so the rest of the chain has something to pull against.
The Approach
At JAMFITNESS, we design our programs around your movement patterns and how they’re affecting your day-to-day functioning.
Our approach toward analyzing movement provides you with a clear roadmap on how to achieve your health and fitness goals. We also make it a priority to help you address asymmetries and functional limitations that may be impacting your movement.
It’s our goal to provide you with a training regiment that not only gives you the results you want but also works towards preventing injuries and imbalances so that you can move forward with ease.
Your First Session
No guesswork, no generic templates. Here’s the path from your first message to consistent progress.
A no-pressure conversation about your goals, your history, your schedule and what has and hasn’t worked before. If it’s a fit, we book your assessment.
Antonio takes you through a full-body movement screen—feet to fingers—and identifies the asymmetries, restrictions and compensations that are quietly capping your results or causing pain.
Your plan targets your specific limitations first, then layers strength on top. You get a written copy you can follow on your own anytime, plus nutrition guidance based on tried-and-tested strategies.
50-minute MVMT sessions or 100-minute 10xHealth sessions, flexible Monday to Friday. Coaching cues built for your anatomy—not something you saw someone else do.
We track your movement and your lifts, celebrate the small wins because they add up, and adjust the program so travel, work and family don’t cost you your momentum.
The 10xHealth Framework
The 10xHealth Framework is a mindset and system that treats personal wellbeing as your first line of defence against adversity. Health isn’t something you react to when things go wrong. It’s something you build before they do.
Your health and fitness act like personal insurance—something you contribute to daily to reduce the cost of injury, burnout, and illness over time. The stronger the foundation, the less you pay later. To 10x your health means being proactive and taking ownership of the fundamentals—Fitness, Nutrition, Mindset—not perfectly, but consistently.
The “10x” isn’t about working ten times harder. It’s the multiplier effect of prioritizing health first. When strength, movement and resilience are in place, the habits you develop naturally carry over into work, relationships, and decision-making under pressure. It’s not addition—it’s multiplication.
This isn’t about doing more. It’s about building a body and mindset that can handle more—by design.
Who We Train
You sit for a living and feel it in your hips, neck and lower back. We rebuild the movement your day takes away.
You’ve trained for years but your squat, press or deadlift has a ceiling you can’t explain. It’s almost always a joint, not a muscle.
An old knee, shoulder or back issue keeps flaring up. Antonio is an injury and recovery specialist—we train around it, then through it.
You want to keep hiking, skiing, playing and picking up your grandkids for decades. That’s a movement-capacity goal, and it’s trainable.
You’ve never had a personal trainer and the gym feels intimidating. Every session is tailored to your level—we start with the basics and build your confidence.
Antonio is a husband and father of two—he understands schedules that pull you in a thousand directions. Efficient training that fits real life.

Meet Your Trainer
The Short Version
Antonio started like most trainers—focused on bigger weights, more reps, harder workouts. But he noticed a pattern: clients would get stronger for a few months, then get injured and disappear. That didn’t sit right with him.
So he dove deep into movement science, biomechanics, and pain-free training methodologies, studying under some of the best minds in functional movement. The breakthrough: train movement quality first, then add strength. Not the other way around.
That approach is the reason JAMFITNESS has held a 5.0 rating across 34 Google reviews since Antonio founded it in 2010, and why canfitpro—Canada’s largest fitness-education body—has published his coaching essays on building client trust and goal-setting that lasts.
Today he works closely with every client and coaches using the International Coaching Federation (ICF) framework—which means he doesn’t just tell you what to do, he helps you understand why you’re doing it and how it connects to your broader life goals. Fitness isn’t just about the gym. It’s about having the energy to play with your kids, the strength to enjoy weekend activities, and the confidence that comes from feeling good in your own skin.

Not at all. We welcome every fitness level, including complete beginners who have never worked with a personal trainer before. Each session is tailored to your level and comfort, with direct coaching throughout so you move safely and confidently. We start with the basics and build from there.
Antonio takes you through a full-body movement screen—feet to fingers—to see how your body actually moves under different conditions. He identifies the asymmetries, restrictions and compensations that are capping your results or causing pain, then uses that to write a program built around your specific mechanics rather than a generic template.
Sessions are 50 minutes (MVMT) or 100 minutes (10xHealth). Each one starts with a tailored warm-up to prepare your body, moves into strength and movement work aligned with your goals, and finishes with guided mobility to cool down. The coaching cues are specific to your anatomy—not something you saw someone else do online.
Most clients train one to three times per week, flexible Monday to Friday. We’ll recommend a frequency based on your goals, schedule and starting point during your assessment. Consistency matters more than intensity—we’d rather you train twice a week for a year than four times a week for a month.
